Evaluation & Diagnosis
Each person’s evaluation is individualized based on his or her needs. However, the most common initial tests performed include:
- Cycle day 2/3/4 testing — These are hormone blood tests that are performed on the second, third, or fourth day of your menstrual cycle. The results give us an idea of how many eggs are left in your ovaries and how well you may respond to fertility medications.
- Hysterosalpingogram — This x-ray test uses water based iodine dye to evaluate the uterine cavity and the fallopian tubes. This test is usually performed between days 6 and 13 of the menstrual cycle. This test tells us if the uterine cavity is normal and if the fallopian tubes are open.
- Semen analysis — A semen sample is collected in order to evaluate a man’s sperm. Since this test is often stressful for men, they have the option to collect their sample in the privacy of their own home or in a private collection room at our office.
